Times Like These

from Street Poet by Jeremy Joyce

/

lyrics

Old woman standing on the cold hard ground
Waiting for some good luck to come around
Sleeping bag ruined from the pouring rain
Hands so cold she can't hold no change

A young boy hurting with no one to call
Who never knew for certain if he's loved at all
On a one way trip to an early grave
Times like this, they need to change

Times like these, they need to change
Break open the locks and let the rivers rage
People of the world, rise up and say
Times like these, they need to change

I've seen people in the streets with blood on their face
A punk in the heat laid his body to waste
A mother making groceries on a roll of dimes
Wonder how she's gonna pay the bills this time

about

Jeremy Joyce New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans couldn’t offer a more appropriate musical backdrop for Jeremy Joyce, whose genre-defying songs are born out of Jeremy’s macro-level interest in music history and his micro-level interest in what makes songs tick.
